April is here with the 100th edition of the MBE Business Magazine.
We started this magazine with no preconceived notions of how long or how good our magazine would/could become. Through many trials and tribulations, including Covid, we have soldiered on, never missing an issue and here we are today celebrating quite a milestone. So HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY edition to the MBE BUSINESS MAGAZINE family. A job well done!
Some important days for the month of April are as follows: April 1st is Easter Monday which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is associated with several traditions and customs, including specific church services and sharing special meals with loved ones. It signifies the end of the Holy Week, a period of reflection, mourning, and celebration encompassing significant events such as Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.
April 1st is also April fool’s Day which is centered around the execution of harmless, practical jokes, and hoaxes, all in good humor. Marked by the spirit of laughter and light-hearted pranks, this tradition aims to bring a playful vibe into our everyday seriousness and routine. The pranks and jokes, though kept simple and safe, are often innovative and spread far and wide, especially with the advent of digital media.
April 5th is Lailatul Qadrthe, also known as the Night of Power, is believed to mark the day when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, embracing a night of remembrance, prayer, and reflection.
April 7th is Divine Mercy Sunday which emphasizes a message of hope for sinners and serves as a reminder of the power of forgiveness bestowed through divine mercy. The day involves the recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet, participation in the sacrament of reconciliation, and attendance at mass, with the hopeful expectation of experiencing God's divine mercy.
April 9th is Eid-al-Fitr, also known as 'The Festival of Breaking the Fast', concludes the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. This period of fasting is a time of self-discipline and introspection, honouring the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad.
April 22nd to the 30th is Passover, also known as Pesach, commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt as depicted in the Book of Exodus. This observance is steeped in deep-seated traditions and rituals, among which the Seder meals, the removal of leavened items (chametz), and the reading of the Haggadah are prominent. These rituals are collectively performed to retell and relive the Exodus story, symbolizing a renewal of faith and a reaffirmation of freedom and redemption.
